Cocoa
The Matale region is located in the interior of Sri Lanka and is characterized by very fertile soil and heavy rainfall. Here the rare Ceylon cocoa grows optimally embedded in the environment. Cocoa trees grow particularly well in green company, in permaculture, which is something that smaller growing countries like Sri Lanka specialize in.
It’s the best and most suited plant for underplanting and that’s the reason for its major success in Sri Lankan Plantations. In ours too it growns and thrives under our coconut palms and amidst all our spices and coffee. The combination of the perfect soil, weather conditions and company makes for a very special flavour in Sri Lankan Cocoa beans. Which in turn translates to of course a very unique sweet indulgence when made into chocolate.
Like all our produce our cocoa beans too are single source, from our estate and fully harvested and processed by hand. Making it artisanal and one of kind.
